It is helpful to understand the lingo of hair stylist when talking about your desired haircut or hairstyle. Please find a list of hair styling terminology below:

Assymetric - Perfectly balanced haircut with one side londer than the other. Unequal lengths either internally or at the perimeter.

Balance - Equilibrium of elements in relations to weight, length or facial contours.

Concave or Inversions - Inside of a circle. Shortest point is at the center and hair builds quickly to one length as in a V-shape. may be sed as a one length discipline as in a bob. A layering technique achieved by overdirectling hair to tshortest point as in concave layers. A graduating technique.

Connecting, Blending - Area between section where a blend is required.

Convex - Outside of a circle. Longest point is at center and gradually gets shorter. Like an inverted V.

Crest of head - Area at top of head above the two temple bones.

Cross Check - Haircut is checked in the opposite manner of how it was cut to ensure all lines are clean.

Density - The amount of hair within the head shape.

Elevation - The degree or distance which a section is helpd out from the head. (Graduation is a result of elevation.)

Fringe - English term for "bang."

Graduation - A build up of weight from short to long not exceeding 90 degrees. Shortest point is at perimeter, longest at crest.
